HANNOVER
Hannover, capital of Lower Saxony, has several noteworthy sites and museums worth visiting. The Kestner Museum houses antiquities from Egypt and the Mediterranean as well as craftwork from the Middle Ages to today. The Great Garden of Herrenhausen, laid out in 1666-1714, is one of the few baroque gardens in Europe to be preserved in its original form. The Opera House built in 1846 is one of the finest Neo-Classical buildings of its kind.
