MACERATA
Set in the heart of the Marches Region of Italy with its capital at Ancona (on the coast), Macerata is a delightful hill town, rich in Renaissance and Baroque architecture. The cathedral dates from the 11th century. The university was founded in 1540. The impressive 19th century open air theatre in the heart of the old city is the perfect backdrop for the Opera performances.
