All the excitement of Manhattan, the Big Apple, is at your feet during this weekend to attend the Opera at one of the most glamorous Opera houses in the world, the Metropolitan. During your time in New York you may like to visit some of the museums with their rich and varied collections: the Metropolitan Museum, which houses everything from Egyptian Antiquities to Byzantine Treasures, Chinese ceramics, Old Master Paintings and much more; or the Frick Museum with its charming 18th-century French and English Paintings including several by Constable. The Guggenheim, a spiral building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, displays 20th-century art, as does the Museum of Modern Art. A little way outside are the Cloisters with their reconstructed Romanesque and Gothic chapels and cloisters from Spain, France and Italy. Perhaps take the ferry from Brooklyn Bridge to the Statue of Liberty. Explore Greenwich Village, Chinatown, Times Square, the Rockefeller Centre and shop on Park Avenue.
