Paris always makes the heart beat a little faster, and what better place to spend a few days and attend the Opera in the Bastille or the Palais Garnier. Perhaps take a bateau mouche on the Seine to appreciate the architecture that lines its banks. Explore the Ile St. Louis and visit the great Gothic Cathedral of Notre Dame, the Musée de Cluny which houses the famous tapestries of the Unicorn and the incomparable collections in the Louvre with its glass pyramid. For lovers of the Impressionists, visits to the Musée d’Orsay and Musée Marmothan will be an enchantment, while for modern art the Pompidou Centre near the beautiful Marais and the Bastille is a must. Further afield, the great 17th century Palace
of Versailles will always attract admirers of the Sun King, Louis XIV, as will Vaux le Vicomte, built by his Minister of Finance, the perfect example of a grand Country mansion. Paris abounds with good restaurants in all corners of the city, up by the Sacré Coeur and Montmartre, across the Seine in the University area of St. Germain des Prés and in the Bois de Boulogne.
